Sharing my Journey to a Life of Time Well Spent
My mission is to educate, inspire & empower people to live with mindful awareness of the impact of our daily choices on the quality of life for self, humankind & our planet.
Our daily choices include how we spend our time, energy, talent, money... The people, causes, products, companies, events & activities we choose to include in our life ~ or choose to exclude ~ have an impact on our own life, the lives of others (from our immediate family to people we will never meet) and certainly on this planet that we are sharing for a time and that we are stewards to, on behalf of all the natural world to which the earth belongs and to our children and future generations to come.
It's really important to know that NOT being aware of the impact of our choices has an impact, too. No doubt about it! So, without gobs of guilt & judgment for past would-a, could-a, should-as, moving forward from this day by becoming aware of the impact of the choices we are making is the first step to living a life of Time Well Spent...
I hope visitors to my blog will follow my journey ~ Connect, learn, share, collaborate. Open your hearts and minds to the possibilities moving forward to impact the lives of so many and our planet ~ you have the power to expedite change starting in your own life and for a better world. All you have to do is take the first step by becoming aware that your choices matter and by paying attention to the daily choices you are making.
Being aware of how you spend your time might just change your life! It's definitely changed mine!
"...because, how we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives..."
~ Annie Dillard
The BLOG’s PURPOSE HAS CHANGED ~ Just a BIT ~ Sharing my Journey is Part of my Life’s Mission
For 3 years, this blog served as a place to share my social enterprise concept, including all the many activities I undertook in service to that concept. Rather than start a new blog, I'm staying firmly planted right here (virtually speaking) so that people can search back through all the musings, events and activities...There's some really good stuff there that I even need to revisit myself!
It turns out that my life's mission is, for all intents and purposes, the same mission that I created for the Time Well Spent concept I created... How incredibly cool that I came to that realization!
Even as the vision for Time Well Spent as a physical center remains highly conceptual and visionary, I am able to move forward in service to my mission each and every day...And, thanks to the path my journey has taken ~ bumps and all ~ as I have been learning and growing, I have been sharing and connecting...both online and in Massachusetts as a board member of the Mass. Chapter of the Social Enterprise Alliance.
To put it lightly, I have SO MUCH to share that will give people hope about our future and lots of ideas and resources that will provide guidance and empowerment as to how to be a part of inspired change that our world is so ready for.
Moving forward, the blog will serve as the place where I share my JOURNEY to a life of Time Well Spent, a journey that goes beyond my dreams for a center that embodies my original (and awesome) vision that somehow came to me (I see myself as the steward to the concept, so the "awesome"ness is all about me being in awe of this transformative idea that came to me in near complete form ~ with all kinds of moments of self-doubt and Why Me?!)
I am sharing my journey because sharing it will serve my mission by providing info and opportunities for people to consider their daily lifestyle and consumer choices, encouraging people to explore their own journey as well. It's also very much a "lead by example" way of life, so sharing is my way to provide those who follow my journey the example which they can (and I hope will) in turn use as inspiration to lead by example in their own lives.
When it comes right down to it, I think it's pretty darn exciting how it all works together... Very yin/yang, energy is aligned and all that really wonderful, crazy but true new age (based on old ideas) stuff. Helping you help others helps me live my life's mission... Very cool if you can follow all the help that's going on and all the good that comes of it!
So...Educating myself, learning, growing...Sharing that story... Inspiring & empowering others... And, through it all, our collective awareness is raised concerning the impact of our choices. As our awareness increases, we make better choices because we are caring, compassionate people at our very core. With blinders off, and a sense of stewardship to fellow (hu)man and our planet, it becomes strikingly clear that the pie in sky, too good to be true, rose-colored glasses stuff isn't beyond our reach at all...
It just takes enough people to say, "I'm in!"
And, everyone reading this has what it takes. You just have to make the choice. Whether you're ready to dive in, already a few strokes ahead of me, alongside me or a few boatlength behind, or even if you are just hesitantly dipping your figurative little toes in the water... I hope you join me.
Together we can...
Be the Change
Lead by Example
Walk the Talk
Yes, very cool stuff, indeed.
Time Well Spent ~ A Collaborative Center for Inspired & Sustainable Change
I continue to be the steward to my comprehensive vision for a replicable and financially-self-sustaining social enterprise business model ~ Time Well Spent ~ A Collaborative Center for Inspired & Sustainable Change.
There's considerable information on this site chronicling my efforts and describing my vision. Here's a good place to start: http://bit.ly/TWScenter
The vision and well-thought out concept for Time Well Spent is anything but business as usual. It's business for good. Props to Firms of Endearment Author David Wolfe and to Albert Einstein for helping me to realize that a comprehensive concept that has little to do with current business models and practices is a good thing:
"No problem can be solved at the same level of consciousness that created it." ~ Albert Einstein
Turning my Time Well Spent vision into a clear business concept was an important part of my journey. After over a decade of community activism and service leadership, and with no interest in the "business world" in spite of my excellent Bentley University education (which all makes so much sense NOW), I spent three full years eagerly learning about social enterprise, multiple income streams, collaborative consumption, sustainability and more.
I actively created the business plan and was very busy in a pre-launch office that served as a very rough prototype of my vision. The time invested made the concept even more clear and strong for Time Well Spent, designed in physical terms as an eco-arts & creative repurposing, community enrichment center and co-working space. A personal highlight, thanks to my action-while-planning approach to exploring my concept, I also spent considerable time helping those in need through my DeClutter For Good drives, the results of which are littered throughout past blog posts and in which I take great pride and joy, to know I already made a difference to those in need and shining a light on the organizations which serve them.
I have every confidence that Time Well Spent has great potential to expedite change by providing an inspiring center in communities across the country, a social enterprise franchise of sorts, where people at various stages of their own journey, can come together, learn and grow and be a part of the many changes taking place in sustainable and mindfully aware lifestyle choices, furthering humanity's growth process toward a tipping point of significant and lasting positive change for all.
It is more important to me that Time Well Spent IS created than whether or not I am the person who spearheads that effort. I'd actually be thrilled to know the vision becomes a reality sooner rather than later, regardless of my level involvement, so long as the vision is carried through in such a way that the mission of helping people to help others and the planet remains intact. Consequently, all serious requests to meet and discuss the business plan are welcome. Anyone interested in discussing the Time Well Spent concept further can leave a comment or email me at nancyDOTgallantATcomcastDOTnet.
