This post includes some pics of my pre-launch office which serves as a prototype of my vision for Time Well Spent when it is a real brick-and-mortar place ~ “an eco-arts and creative repurposing, community enrichment center” to be more precise!

 

I hope the pics will provide a glimpse of the multi-use nature of the center that Time Well Spent will be. It’s going to take a learning curve of understanding for folks to ”get”  the whole concept. Trust it is a business plan worth pursuing which will benefit all stakeholders, all people impacted by its existence, events and opportunities…  Once I get initial funding, through a social enterprise grant, a partner or a seed capital investor, Time Well Spent is ready to launch!

First Stop: The Re-Work-Shop

Old tables (that was from my kitchen!) will find new purpose as work tables for eco-artists and folks exploring their artistic repurposing side - perhaps for the first time!

Here's a bookcase donated by a fellow Ipswich mom ~ Thanks Julie! It's filled with yarn, embroidery supplies and other textiles ~ patiently waiting to be used in the creation of something new and functional, even if that function is adding whimsy to one's life! And, the treasure-seeking eco-artist might notice some leather handbags in the front... Waiting to be turned into functional art with some acrylic paints...

Clutter Credits will be given in return for donated clutter that can be repurposed as raw material for eco-art projects. For a list of some of the items that we are seeking, go to the lists above.

The S.O.S. (Sharing Our Stuff) Resource Library

The S.O.S (Sharing Our Stuff) Library/Resource Center ~ I'm still struggling with the name of the space, but I'm not struggling with its function - a place to share books, magazines, ideas and energy... Search "library" for more blog posts on the topic...

We'll be sharing lots of reference material, books, magazines, maybe even cds and games, and definitely some basics like a computer printer, in the SOS Resource Library ~ Stuff that clutters up our home 99% of the time, but we still like to use from time to time. A simple honor system for signing things out will celebrate low-tech sharing.

In this pic, gardening books are stacked atop vintage chairs... What was I thinking when I took up gardening for my 40th birthday and bought a dozen books on the topic?? Not very eco-friendly... Sharing them is, though!

Here's a pic of Brian R doing community service as part of our DeClutter For Good program - where we take items not needed at Time Well Spent and donate them to local service organizations. To date, we've donated over 1,000 books to More Than Words, Cradles to Crayons, Cornerstone School and The Lynn Community Center (gotta check for the exact name of that organization, having only worked with them once...).
