I’ve gotten an email a couple of times about sending along Christmas cards to injured soldiers and thought it worth posting here, the more places the better… Then when my friend Kim sent along a corrected address, I thought all the more reason to spread the word about the appropriate address to use, lest the well-intended holiday wishes be thrown away…
Here’s the email followed by the correction:
GREAT IDEA!! When doing your Christmas cards this year, take one card
and send it to this address. If we pass this on and everyone sends one
card, think of how many cards these wonderful special people who have
sacrificed so much would get.
When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, please include
the following:
A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue,NW
Washington,D.C. 20307-5001
And the correction:
Sorry about the previous email it had the wrong information.
If you want a card to get to a soldier it is now through Red Cross, since
the other address was for a program that was 3 years ago.
Holiday Mail for Heroes
PO Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456
Mail sent directly to Walter Reed hospital, if not addressed to a patient by
name, is thrown away.
Thanks for the heads up, Kim!
